Celebration Of Golden

Over 300 community members and Mines students and faculty came together to commemorate our shared pandemic experiences and celebrate how we are supporting each other
Inspiring speeches were provided by, Mayor Laura Weinberg, Councilor Bill Fisher, Mines Chief of Staff Peter Han, Councilor Bill Fisher Kim Mangle, Founder/Manager of Executive Director Roundtable, Hannah Frey, Undergraduate Student Government President and Max Silver, Graduate Student Government President
28 School of Mines and community organizations had booths where they held dialogues with participants about their activities to raise awareness and engagement across community and Mines organizations. This also strengthened connections between Mines organizations and community non-profits working in related areas.
Participants engaged in a community art project with banners sharing reflections and commemorations on the pandemic that will be showcased in Golden.
Participants enjoyed a rousing performance of the Mines marching band and local band Alibi
Everyone feasted on delicious food and drinks from Bob’s Burgers, Basic Kneads Pizza, Golden Poultry and Meats, and others
COMMUNITY CONVERSATION ON FIGHTING RACISM

Following the Golden Vigil and March for Black Lives, Golden United facilitated a follow-up meeting to discuss the next steps. During the meeting, participants expressed the desire to create a citizen’s group to address racism and racial inequality in Golden which later became the Golden Anti-Racism Collective.
GOLDEN VIGIL AND MARCH FOR BLACK LIVES

Golden United, in partnership with several other community members, hosted a Vigil and March for Black Lives in Parfet Park. The community came together to improve awareness of the unjust treatment of black Americans and discuss how we can together address this issue and similar challenges for all people of color. Estimated attendance ranged from 500-800 participants.
VIRTUALLY GOLDEN: A LUNCH AND LEARN SERIES
Golden United launched Virtually Golden in late March 2020 as an effort to bring together the Golden Community despite COVID-19 social distancing efforts and the state-wide Stay at Home order. Goldenites gathered via Zoom to learn about Golden history, culture, and local talent. The Virtually Golden series ran twice a week from March 24 to May 5th, 2020. GOLDEN UNITED BUSINESS ASSISTANCE WEBINAR SERIES
Golden United produced a two-part webinar series designed to provide information about COVID-19 resources and assistance available to Golden businesses. Part one covered Legal & Financial Issues Related to COVID-19. Part two focused on Positioning Your Business for Success in a New Business Environment. CANDIDATE TOWN HALL

Thank you to the five candidates for mayor and city council and the 90+ members of the community who joined us for the highly interactive and informative town hall. This event featured residents asking questions to the candidates, Golden United questions, and a novel “Candidating” activity where the candidates moved from table to table for dialogue with participants. The Second Annual Flavors of Golden Event celebrated the variety of residents and organizations in the Golden area
and the unity they demonstrate in their shared passion for and commitment to the community. It combined brief inspirational remarks from the organizations with an array of delicious food offerings, along with time to sit down and have a relaxed meal and conversation with folks of varying perspectives.
GOLDEN HOUSING FORUM
June 21, 2018
Golden United and Foothills Art Center partnered in convening a discussion of housing issues for Golden with around 70 participants. The discussion focused on actions that will maintain affordable housing in Golden and preserve the city’s unique small town character.
